Sending
Photos for "Fantasy Magazine Covers" or
"Foto-Toons"
TYPES OF PHOTOS
THAT WORK BEST:
Digital photos
will provide the best quality and clarity and the larger the
better. (Please keep in
mind that the quality of the photo you send will affect the
quality of the finished cover.)
IMPORTANT:
For
the Magazine-Covers, pictures taken with portrait (vertical) orientation will almost
always work better. For the "Foto-Toons" it does not
matter whether the picture is vertical or horizontal as we only
use the face.
The best format for your photos is JPEG,
however other formats can work. It is recommended
that you send a picture with a minimum of 1600x1200 resolution
for the best quality printed product. (If you're scanning a
photo you already have or someone is scanning it for you, make
sure that they set the scanner resolution to at least 300 dpi.)
The quality of
your finished product will be best if you send us a larger file
and let us downsize it as opposed to sending us a smaller file
where we would need to enlarge your picture. If you
submit a photo in which the quality will not work when enlarged,
we will contact you for further options.
PROHIBITED:
Any threatening, obscene, pornographic or profane material will
not be used. Any material that would infringe rights of
privacy, publicity or copyrights without the permission of the
owner of these rights and the persons (or their parents or legal
guardians, where applicable) will not be processed.
We
reserve the right to change colors and layouts of designs to
enhance your finished magazine cover.
TO
SEND A PHOTO ALREADY STORED ON YOUR COMPUTER:
Our order form will have a line that says
"browse". When you find the picture you want on
your hard-drive, just select it and it will be automatically
sent to us with your order-form. TO
IMPORT A PHOTO NOT yet ON YOUR HARD DRIVE: First, import
your photo into the computer using a scanner, a camera (or
camera memory card) or any other way. When the photo is on your
screen, click on the word "file" in the upper left of
your screen, scroll down to "save as", give the photo
a name and save it to a folder on your hard drive or to your
desktop. and remember where you saved it. Also, in the same
"save as" box, look for "save as type" at
the very bottom, click the little arrow to the right of this,
and from the list of file types that drops down, choose JPEG. IF
YOUR PHOTO IS ON A PHOTO-SHARING WEBSITE: If
the photo you want us to use is stored on a photo sharing
website like "Webshots", "Drop Shots" or one
of the many others, there is a line on the order that you will
be able to fill out giving us the website, the name or URL of
the photo, and the password to copy it if we need one.
IF YOU'RE
STILL HAVING TROUBLE GETTING YOUR PHOTO TO US:
You can always go to your local "Office Depot" or "Staples" store
with your photo and they should be able to do
this for you in minutes at very low cost. After they scan
it, have them e-mail it to us at namesandpoems@comcast.net
or show you how to import it to your own computer so that you
can send it along with your order-form as described in the 3rd
paragraph above.
